Well, not sure if you meant Private Equities Fund or Private Equities?
If the person is trying to sell get you to invest into PE Fund (which I obviously don't think so), then this is definitely the wrong approach!!!
PE Fund do not approach clients through phone call or even emails or website. You'll probably be invited to a very nice, classy office to take a look at the performance of the fund over the years, what they have invested etc, before they get you to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to review the Offering Documents!
On the other hand, if they are trying to sell you some private companies' equities, I am not sure what's the tax implication to you for investing direct into US companies.
But, do bear in mind that the performance fee for PE is pretty high and it can suck up a huge portion of your gains. Well, hack care... as long as they can generate 12% yoy returns, why not give them some carrots!!
