In July I first achieved $100 earnings a month in Adsense. I then targeted the next level to make $200 a month in Adsense. Very happy and glad to say that I’ve achieved this goal in the month of September!

I truly believe in the power of the mind, coupled with determination and will power to make something work. If you have a goal and you want it badly enough, you will find all means and ways to achieve it.

Now that I’ve seen such possibilities in my Adsense, I’m also applying the same determination and focus to meet my sales target on my blogshop at Penny’s Online Shop. When I first started it in mid of May, sales were slow but steady. Over the months it has improved tremendously and I’m now beginning to track it closely to chart my growth.

I find that when I focus on the thing that I want to do, it grows. So all I need to do is to focus more on it, work hard and smart. And it is a must to always want to achieve the goal. I believe if you are not hungry about achieving the goals you set, then they probably won’t materialise.

And note that these are 2 areas that I’m making money on the internet. If you have been a non-believer about making money online, well you have to start believing it at some point. Lots of people are doing it and next to them, I’m just a little fly…

But I refuse to be that little fly for long. So off I go now to set higher targets for both my Adsense earnings and online shop!

When I first started to incorporate Google Adsense into my blog some 1 year and 7 months ago, I knew I was in for a long shot to make some money out of it. But my mindset back then was, so what? Let’s just leave them there and over time, who knows, I might just get some earnings.

I didn’t bother to learn much about how to maximise the earnings until I reached my first $100 after mnay, many months and I very happily made my first Adsense withdrawal via Western Union. Needless to say, I was elated and encouraged. That was back in March this year.

In the months that followed, I worked harder and every month was an improvement over the last with more earnings streaming in. From earning about $60 a month, I went on to make $80 a month and then $90 a month. The increased earnings each month was gradual and I was thankful and grateful enough that each passing month was better than the one before.

Finally, for the month of July I made $100 a month. Again I am elated and even more encouraged to work harder to earn even more than that. I will aim higher and I’ll set a timeframe and target to earn $200 a month. I now believe it’s do-able, it’s just a matter of working on it.

It has taken me quite a long while, I would say, to make $100 a month. It’s been 1 year and 7 months for me to reach here. I don’t want to take another 1 year to make $200 a month. Any Adsense expert out there can share some tips on how to make money with Adsense?

For a long while I’ve heard of the famous Thesis theme developed by Chris Pearson. Then for equally long I was considering getting it after reading the many raving reviews about what it can do and why Thesis is like no other Wordpress themes out there, all free and premium Wordpress themes combined.

A little bit of background information about the Thesis theme…it is THE MOST customisable Wordpress theme you can ever find! It doesn’t require any in depth knowledge of HTML for you to tweak and customise the theme to suit your style. It can really be anything and everything you want. You can choose it to be as simple or beautifully decorated with graphics and colours as you wish. And did I mention you do this with just clicking on buttons?! Well for the more advanced tweaks, you will need to learn how to use some hooks to instruct your site to behave in certain manners, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty limitless what you can do.

So in March this year I finally hopped onto the bandwagon and went ahead to buy my first ever premium theme. Since I own a few blogs, there was no point in getting a single license so I bought a developer’s license which gives me limitless use of the theme on as many domains as I want.

Since then I’ve slowly converted some of my blogs onto the Thesis Wordpress theme platform and have no regrets. I do have more sites to convert but am taking my time as I would like to concentrate on the more critical ones first.

So what made me part with some $160+ for a Thesis Wordpress theme? Well, you can read the many reviews and even read about it on DIYThemes site. I won’t repeat after everyone the benefits of Thesis. But I will share with you why I am totally happy with it.

After all those fantastic reviews, how did I find the Thesis theme and is it really as good as it is said to be? Well let’s just say I’m a satisfied customer although there were some teething issues with it. But nothing that I can’t get some help with in the active support forum at DIYThemes site.

So what was it that made me a satisfied user of Thesis? I would have to say that after 3 months of using the theme, I find that my traffic has improved. As a way to track this, I deliberately used the theme on some sites and left some alone. When I saw the results of improved organic traffic, I was convinced that the theme was working for me. And that is why I am now converting this site’s layout to use Thesis too since my little experiment to test Thesis has proven to be satisfactory.

I can’t really attribute this directly, but I feel that it may have also helped in my Adsense earnings. Due to higher traffic, I guess the chances of clickthroughs for Adsense also increase with it. Further, there were some help with some customised Adsense hooks that I could easily pluck into my site and that was supposed to help.

So other than it being customisable, I am very satisfied that the money I spent on buying Thesis was really some worthy investment. I’ve already made it all back with my ad earnings. The only regret I have is that I didn’t get it sooner! Nevertheless it is never too late. So if anyone out there is mulling over whether it will be worth it, I will vouch for it and tell you to go for it

In the recent weeks the search engine business have seen new competitors rising up to the mark with the launch of Bing by Microsoft and Hunch by Flickr. Both the new search engines are trying to differentiate by saying that they aren’t really search engines, but rather more of a decision maker.

Bing claims it is positioned to provide answers while Hunch helps you make smarter decisions. Well, you know, however they position themselves, I still view them as search engines anyway! Of course I give them credit for making the effort to be different and trying to create and dominate a new space within the business of online search.

So, with these new lifestyle search engines in the market, have you tried using them yet? By now I think most people have heard and tried Bing. I even saw some traffic coming to my blogs from Bing searches. I suppose the one pleasing thing with Bing is the aesthetic value. When people talk about Bing, the first thing they say is “Look how nice it is!” and I agree. It is aesthetically pleasing alright.

With Hunch, it’s been a bit more quiet and perhaps not many have heard of it. But you know what? The people behind Hunch are quite a clever lot. When you first go to the Hunch page, you will be asked to answer a series of questions. I don’t know how these questions are supposed to be filtered to help the engine know you and thus return pages that it thinks you will want, as the questions are quite general. But what is smart about it is that it can actually milk advertisers of a lot of money!

Just look at one of the questions I was asked about which type of fries I prefer. Listed as options are wedges, thick fries, McDonald’s fries, Burger King’s fries and some normal fries. Don’t you think this kind of survey result will bring a lot of value to McDonald’s and Burger King? They may be willing to pay a lot of money for Hunch to ask this kind of questions to millions of people!

Whether any of these newbies will be a real threat to Google remains to be seen but many are of the opinion that they aren’t really big threats to the search engine giant who has a big market share by now. But don’t judge too quickly. Let’s just wait and see…because it all comes down to who has the smarter way of milking money out of advertisers to beef up the bottom line.

In April I was thrilled to be making some $66 on Adsense in a single month. It was my highest earning month ever and I was looking forward to repeating it this month. However, I’m pleasantly surprise to find that I am doing even better this month, earning $80.

It looks like I may be doing something right, but I have no idea what! Traffic wise, I guess it’s been alright and decent, sometimes up and sometimes down. Most of my traffic are organic, coming from search engines. So that’s a little hard to say I’ll keep up with getting more traffic because there’s just no sign of regular readers being frequent visitors. With organic traffic, one can only hope to keep getting the keywords right and to rank decently on the search engines.

Speaking of search engines, I used to be doing better on Yahoo! than on Google. I have no idea why and how. Then recently I found that my Google search rankings have improved and it’s doing better if not equal with Yahoo! search ranking now. I also don’t know how this happened. If there’s something I can do to consciously improve on the rankings, perhaps my organic traffic could be better and hopefully my Adsense too?

But for now I’m thankful and happy for my continuous Adsense earnings. I’m framing up another high earning month for my own record
