Counting my eggs before they hatch

by Penny on October 30, 2007

Since I’ve been back to work, I was informed that from January 2008 my 14-month salary will be converted to 12-month salary. That means more money upfront every month. That is a big help to the higher expenses I’m now facing.

I’ve been trying to do an income statement in my head with the new salary scheme. But in doing so, I’m also counting my eggs before they actually hatch. I’m hoping for at least a 2-month bonus in January 2008 and to see an increment. I know the increment is hardly big, but I’m still counting on at least a 5%. But the higher the salary, the lower the increment. That’s the sad part. Instead of thinking that 5% is a measly increment, I’ve come to even hope it’s at least 5%! Better than nothing or anything less.
