New fund launch

I was informed by my unit trust agent that a new fund is to be launched next week buying into local securities that are categorised to be small to mid-cap in size. I am interested in small-cap funds because of the growth opportunities. I’ve missed out on many small-cap funds in the past and don’t intend to buy them now because they’ve grown and become quite expensive. Maybe this will be an opportunity for me to enter at a reasonably low price. But how does the market fare for small-cap companies?
