Record earnings in Adsense. Is Google being generous?

by Penny on April 28, 2009

I’m a small time blogger and own several blogs that cover different topics. I love to write and that’s what triggered me to start blogging several years back. Whilst I spend time blogging, I thought I might as well see if I can make some money out of blogging too. It would be nice if I could make some money out of it to pay for my annual web hosting and domain name charges so that blogging can be something I can do for free!

That’s when I started to incorporate money making tools like Google’s Adsense into my blogs. As you would know, a small time blogger earns nothing but peanuts from Adsense since it depends on traffic and clicks on the ads.

After about a year of displaying Google Adsense ads in my blogs, I finally saw my earnings touch the US$100 mark three months back and made my first withdrawal through Western Union.

Since then, I’ve paid more attention to ways to improve earnings on Adsense and incorporated a few tips here and there that I picked up from reading other bloggers’ tips. To my delight, my Adsense earnings did improve significantly!

I’m not sure what it is that actually helped to boost the earnings, whether it’s increased traffic to the blogs or the little tweaks that I made to my Adsense settings in the blogs. Or maybe Google is just being generous and everyone is achieving better earnings from their Adsense? Whatever it is that has helped, I’m very pleased.

This month has been a record high for me. As of today, my Adsense earnings for the month of April is US$56.95.

I know big time bloggers may be laughing at me for being so happy to earn $50 a month when they are earning by the hundreds and thousands, but since I’m nothing but a small time blogger, it’s enough to make me happy and spur me on to strive harder to up the earnings although I don’t really know how to!

I know I shouldn’t be all too happy and thrilled because earning money from Adsense is something very touch and go for me. I don’t even know what I did right to achieve better earnings, and to say that the earnings will continue to be good will be an overstatement since I can’t even attribute a single success factor to earn more from Adsense.

So I guess I can only enjoy basking in this month’s record high earnings and hope for the best going forward. And if anyone has any great tips to share on how to maximise Adsense earnings as well as to do so continuously, I will be forever grateful! :D

Tekkaus, I hope my happiness won’t be shortlived and that I can continue to see good earnings! :)

Lithiummind, I think with some tweaks here and there in Adsense, it’s possible!

Financial Fool, it will come, just keep going!

Mysmartweb, I don’t know how Adsense works either. Such a pity…we just have to keep experimenting with it.

Calvaryzone, I think you should put in Adsense even now while trying to build traffic. No harm done to start now.

Alvin, hey look at it on the bright side, you’re halfway there to withdraw your Adsense money already! :)

Congrats! It’s not the amount that matters for now, it’s the satisfaction that things are looking up :) btw, I usually get Google to send me a CHQ, what would be the advantage of going through Western Union instead?

Keep taking actions!

Thank you, and I agree with you, it’s the satisfaction that counts. Some benefits of using Western Union over a cheque include not having to wait for the cheque to pass through the snail mail from the US and I think it is also more expensive to cash out the US dollar cheque to our local currency versus the small commission charged on Western Union. Whilst you may have to wait quite a while for a foreign cheque to clear in a local bank, a withdrawal through Western Union is immediate. You may want to consider changing your options to Western Union. It’s really quite easy and fast.
