Warrants for retail investors

by Penny on January 31, 2008

Our market is not a very matured one where investment product offerings are concerned. If you are a high net-worth individual, then yes there are many opportunities that are open to you. But what if I’m just me, an average Jane? There would be no equal opportunity for me.

So when CIMB launched its warrant products for retail investors, I was so thrilled and ready to jump onboard. I’ve never bought warrants before. I read up on it and it seemed all good.

Then I found a post that gave some details about the fineprints of this product that I didn’t get to read or understand.

Now that I understand more how it works, I’m having second thoughts. Nothing is really as good as it is sold to be. Somewhere, somehow, there is always a catch. In this case, the catch is that the returns are capped. There just isn’t enough spread to be made. It’s no point investing then.
